FIRST SEMESTER
New York city
|
This summer was awesome because I was able to visit MoMA and the Metropolitain Museum of Art in New York city. I was literally so excited and it was amazing. I saw all of the peices on the left and I also saw some more famous peices like "Starry Night" by Van Gogh. I was super excited because tons of the works that I saw I had studied the year before in Art History- it was like my art book was coming to life. My favorite work that I saw in MoMA was "drowning girl" by Roy Litchenstein. I was so surprised that it was so big- I had pictured it a lot smaller. This same thing happened when I saw "The Persistence of Memory". I was so tiny! I was in awe for the whole day walking around both of these museums.

Chicago Art Institute
|
I was able to go to the Chigago Art Institute with my IB Theory of Knowledge class. Not only did I love Chicago because I like big cities, but the art museum was one of the best that I've been to. I'm a huge modern and pop art fan, and so although there was some awesome Van Gogh paintings, I really enjoyed the work by Barbra Kruger and Felix Gonzalez-Torres. One of my favorite works was "Untitled" by Felix Gonzalez-Torres. It is pictured on the lower right. The art that I saw on this trip really made me want to create some multimedia work. |
Haunted Screens at the Art Museum- Milwaukee, WI
Im very interested in film, and so it was so cool to visit the Haunted Screens (German Cinema in the 1920s) exhibit at the Milwaukee Art Museum. I had seen some of the old films before, like metropolis and Nosferatu, but it was really cool to learn more about them and see scene sketchs. I unfortunatly wasnt allowed to take pictures inside, but I really enjoyed seeing the old movie posters in French and German. I want to watch the whole version of The Last Laugh. I'm very inspired by German Expressionist films.

SECOND SEMESTER
Third Ward Marshal building galleries- Milwaukee, WI
I get to check out gallery night in Milwaukee's historic third ward. My favorite gallery i the building was one that was showing the work of Melissa Lee Johnson, and a variety of other artists. This gallery was awesome because it was in a smaller space that was around a corner, so I wasn't expecting to see art that I liked as much as I did. This gallery was composed of a few different rooms, that held the work of different artists.

SCAD gallery- Savannah, GA
Over spring break, I visited Savannah, Georgia to tour SCAD. While we were there, we got to see some student galleries. SCAD pretty much covered the whole city, and it was awesome to see how art could be integrated with history. There were many different building that held student art. I really liked the horse shown to the right. It was made up of all sorts of materials including string, beads, fabric, etc.

MIAD Senior Art Exhibitions- Milwaukee, WI
During our "Room with a View" Project Critique at the Milwaukee Institute of Art and Design, we got to see the senior art exhibitions. These projects were the seniors final thesis'. It was really cool to see all of the final projects because it helped me to understand what I could become capable of producing if I were to attend an art school. I really liked the fashion set-ups, and prints that I saw.
